There are many complex components that contribute to becoming an effective instructor in Martial Arts. Instructing or coaching in Martial Arts should go beyond teaching a “catalog” of techniques. Mixed Martial Arts are particularly challenging due to the wide variety of techniques and the ranges in which those techniques are utilized.

A Mixed Martial Arts framework that integrates all components is necessary to facilitate the mentoring and coaching of a student.   The depth of the instructor’s understanding of Mixed Martial Arts allows the instructor to introduce concepts and techniques in a structured and progressive program from which students will benefit.

Coordinated goal setting which is leveled allows the progression of understanding and increased knowledge and performance of students. This acquisition of knowledge within a structured curriculum should be framed by an effective class structure and instructional methodology. Class structure and drills should be taught within the framework’s goals and delivered dynamically so student performance is significantly enhanced. Effective coaching or instruction must be a balance of specific skills, application of those skills, acquisition of an overall framework and motivation. Optimal effective student performance is achieved when the Mixed Martial Arts class environment delivers this balance.


Jackson’s Mixed Martial Arts Association Instructor Certification provides the skills and knowledge for an instructor to achieve this balance and provide a highly effective MMA program. The Jackson’s MMA Framework goes beyond leveled techniques and provides the blueprint how to approach training and an understanding of fighting. Each Instructor Certification Level provides additional skills and knowledge and prepares the individual to be an effective Head Instructor at their affiliate school.
